We were at Bumbershoot together. You always went your own way. At closing time we met at the fountain. I was there waiting for you at the fountain it was past closing time and you had'nt arrived yet. I was getting a bit worried. Then I heard a commotion toward Fisher Green. Upon arriving at the scene of the ruckus, I discover that there was a large crowd gathered around one of the street preformers. Security was in the process of subduing the street performer, to forcibly remove him from the premises(because he refused to honor closing time and continued to perform). I spotted you right up front cheering the preformer's rebellious act on. You were so happy to be part of the rebellion. All the way home you praised the performer for taking a stand. I could tell that you were as proud of yourself as you were of him. In my heart you'll always be my encouragement to stand up to "The Man". I love you, Cody. Bumbershoot will never be the same without you.

Cody you are so precious to me. You've left me with such sweet memories. One of my resent memories is how you jumped with abandon and joy at Trampoline World. You took time out from jumping to hop over to me and smother me in a joyful hug to let me know how much you appreciated that I paid your way. I never had the pleasure of meeting Cody, or his beautiful sisters, but I knew his loving Mom quite well. She and I were best buddies at Long Beach High, over 40 years ago! Looking at the wonderful photo album here brought tears to my eyes, streaming down my face, because Cody looks so much like his Mom did when she was "a kid". My thoughts and prayers are with Charlene and Kenny, and my heart is heavy with grief and sadness. Parents are not meant to lose children, yet, the Lord makes no mistakes. Cody must be livening up Heaven right now, and I will get to meet him there one day. God Bless Cody's soul, and all the beloved family and friends he leaves behind. Dear family of Cody, I am sorry for the loss of Cody,so young with his whole life ahead. I wish to share comfort from the Bible. Jesus well knew the Bible statement:"time and unforseen occurrence befall them all"[Ecclesiastes 9:ll]. He knew that sometimes terrible things just happen. The wonderful future resurrection hope, is the promise found at John 5:28,29. Revelation 21:2,4 states that death will be no more and pain will be no more, the former things will have passed away". Our Creator, Jehovah God, by means of his sone Jesus, is going to undo the tragedies that touch our lives today. Cody was a wonderful uncle. One time he was sitting at Annika's toddler-sized coloring table wearing a red and white striped Dr. Suess hat and sitting on a chair about ten times too small for him. Annika (age 2) had just drawn a circle in her coloring book and he said, "Annika, that's a great circle you drew!" And she replied, "Thank you, here have a green crayon". And they sat there and colored together. It was such a simple and beautiful moment. I will never forget that.

Well Cody, from the posted photos, anyone can see that you embraced adventure. Whether bicycling around town, enjoying the beach, geo-caching with Dad, or playing with your nieces and nephew, you gave it your all and you did it always with a smile. Your smile was contagious. Your experimenting with different hairstyles, including your mohawk, gave us a glimpse of your ever-evolving character. Whatever look you were sporting, you did it proudly. The photos also show your love for your family and their love for you. How lucky you were to have those special moments with them. Those are the moments that will live on in their hearts forever. I remember when you came to New York and stayed with us for awhile. Jimmy often accompanied you on your daily exploration of sites on Long Island and it was nice to see you getting to know one another. What amazed me about you was how such a thin guy could eat so, so, so much— and never gain any weight. Even though I would kid you about it, you had a great sense of humor and would just ask me if there was any more pizza. The memory that I will cherish most is dancing with you at Breeanna’s and John’s wedding. You were the best dance partner ever. You moved to the music with so much energy. And your ever present smile just lit up the dance floor. So while you have gone on to the next great adventure, please remember when we meet again to save a dance for me. Love your Aunt Pam.

I really loved Cody's laugh and sense of humor. I've known him since high school, and one day at school, we were talking and joking around, and I told him he would look great with a mohawk. Somehow that conversation turned into me coming home with him after school and shaving a mohawk into his hair. I thought he was playing around, but I went home with him after school that day, and he got hair clippers and I cut his hair for him. I'm not sure if his mom was too happy about that or not, but I loved how much fun Cody was and how he was always up for anything and was not afraid to try new things or of what people thought about him. This past summer my high school class had a reunion, and I got him into the first event as my date, and we all had way more fun with Cody with us, than we would have without him there.

Back when we were in high school a few of us wanted to go to the drive in, but of course we were broke high school students and wanted to pay the least amount possible. There were four of us in the cab of my sister's truck with a bunch of blankets. Cody managed to get down and hide even though it was a super tight fit with all of our legs in the way and we covered him with blankets. We only had to pay for three people to get in, which was pretty exciting for all of us, and I think for a few of us that was our first experience breaking some rules! I'm glad I got to spend time with Cody back in high school, and more recently as well.

I will never forget the day that Cody was helping to chop onions for supper. He must have been about 10 or so, maybe a little older. As is custom with chopping onions, his eyes began to water, and water profusely. It was just driving him crazy. Being a very resourceful boy, he left the kitchen and returned minutes later wearing swimming goggles! He proceeded to chop the onions...problem solved!
